Appalachian Mountain Brewery focuses on building relationships with our community, sustainable business practices and supporting local non-profits.  We also really enjoy brewing great tasting award winning beers and ciders.

Our brewery and tasting room are located at 163 Boone Creek Drive, bordering Boone Creek and Hodges Creek near Boone Mall.  The tasting room features plenty of outdoor seating, a 120 foot long outdoor bar bordering Boone Creek and a covered heated porch perfect for enjoying on of our beers.

We are deeply involved in the local High Country community, and we are proud to be developing the area into a more verdant, healthy and exciting place to live and visit.

You can find our flagship beers and ciders at our taproom and in restaurants, grocery stores and bottle shops across North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.  Our signature beers are Boone Creek Blonde Ale, Long Leaf IPA, Spoaty Oaty American style Pale Ale and Porter.

Boone Creek Blonde Ale:

An ode to the creek along which we built our brewery, Boone Creek Blonde is a refreshing ale for all seasons. Brewed with orange zest to complement its light hop aroma, the beer has a crisp mouth-feel, followed by a hint of sweetness from wildflower honey, This drinkable and delicious brew is an award-winning ale from Boone’s beer pioneer.

It all began with a Christmas gift in 1994.  Billy Pyatt, a notoriously hard guy to buy presents for, fell in love with the carboys, pots, hydrometers, grains, hops, chemistry, and physics involved in brewing.  His brother, Scott, fell right in with him.  Their love became an obsession that could only be resolved by going pro – not an easy thing to do in 1999!

Fast forward to the present, we’ve grown organically into a 30 barrel Sprinkman brewhouse that is shinier than we ever imagined during those humble beginnings.   The production facility/tasting room is in downtown Morganton where the 30bbl brewhouse makes the 9 flagship beers.  Asheville is home to the second tasting room and brewery in the South Slope area where a 7-bbl brewery makes small batches, and where our barrel aging program is housed.  Asheville’s Biltmore Village also has a conveniently located tasting room.  Our third brewery, will open in early 2017 in the Plaza-Midwood area of Charlotte and will feature a 10-bbl brewery, tasting room, and magnificent city views. Core beers include: White Zombie White Ale, Farmer Ted’s Cream Ale and Mother Trucker Pale Ale.

White Zombie:

Made according to the Belgian Witbier tradition, of using unmalted wheat to create the light body and white sheen, additions of coriander and orange peel give Zombie a fruity and spicy character, while the hops are subtle and lightly detected. ABV 5.1%, SRM 3, IBU 7

Brewing award-winning ales since 1997, Green Man was founded in downtown Asheville, originally as a brewpub. In 2010, new ownership and a fresh approach spurred evolutionary change at Green Man. No longer a brewpub, Green Man focused on production, distribution, and growth. With the help of the original brewer, John Stuart, and his team, Green Man has evolved into a respected and well-known brewery, known for traditional ales and impressive specialties with a keen eye for quality and consistency.   Core beers include: ESB, IPA, Porter, Wayfarer

Perfect for every occasion, this easy drinking IPA suits any activity you fancy. This cool ale has a rockin’ citrus aroma and a laid-back finish. ALC/VOL 6.0, IBU 70.1

We are dedicated to the tradition of our craft, but we aren’t saying we won’t experiment. Brewing beers with a connection to the past is important to us. We love to brew traditional styles that honor the heritage of our craft and pay respect to those who have crafted beer before us. Yet, as an American craft brewer, we are elated to participate in the culture of experimentation that has developed here. With the opening of our second location, our South Slope Brewery will become an experimental hub, giving us the opportunity to explore creative and ambitious styles that we never had the capability to brew before. We will keg and bottle a wide range of ales and lagers that embody this new movement in craft beer while still making widely available the core, approachable beers that we have come to be known for. Core beers include: Bed of Nails Brown Ale, Hi-Pitch Mosaic IPA, Lo-Pitch Juicy IPA and Lager.

Bed of Nails Brown Ale:

Crafted as an American ode to a traditional English Brown. A light hop addition balances the natural sweetness present in the specialty malt. This beer’s delicate body and dry finish allow flavors of toffee and dark fruit to shine through. Hops: UK First Gold, Willamette | Yeast: Ale Yeast | Color: Ruby Brown, ABV 6.1%, IBU 21, SRM 25.

Located in Charlotte, NC, Sugar Creek was founded by Joe Vogelbacher and Eric Flanigan. The brewery’s logo incorporates a Balloon that signifies both our brewery rising to the frothy surface of a sea of new breweries and the rising of the craft beer community. The balloon is a declaration of Sugar Creek Brewing Company’s mission, to craft the finest beer in North Carolina and is reminder of the realization that the pursuit of perfection is a never ending adventure. The Boat represents the maritime experience both Sugar Creek Brewing owners Joe Vogelbacher and Eric Flanigan share. Joe has proudly served in the United States Naval Reserves since 2006. He is a U.S.C.G licensed Merchant Marine engineer and acquired the rank of Lieutenant Commander while serving in the Selective Reserve Component. Eric Flangan served in the United States Marine Corps from 2002 to 2006 as an Infantry Machine Gunner. He served two combats tours: Afghanistan and Fallujah, Iraq. In his service, Eric earned the Leatherneck Award in addition to two combat action ribbons. Joe grew up alongside of Little Sugar Creek, one of the more prominent streams in Mecklenburg County. At one point, this creek was dubbed one of the most polluted streams in Mecklenburg County by the Charlotte Observer. The Clown Trigger Fish represents the return of fish to Little Sugar Creek and the restoration of natural beauty and cleanliness to the area.

Sugar Creek Brewing Company is dedicated to brewing high quality ales in a style and commitment representative of Belgian Trappist Monks. Core beers include: Pale Ale, White Ale and Belgian Dubbel.

Pale Ale:

2015 Alltech Commonwealth Cup Silver Medal Winner. A multicultural fusion combining American and European styles. This ale brewed with imported Belgian specialty malts supported by a traditional English floor malt backbone, is hopped with some of America’s most popular whole-cone hop varieties yielding a surprisingly refreshing and well-balanced Pale Ale. Pronounced flavors of fruit, citrus, pine and grapefruit balance a caramelized toastiness from our unique malt combination appealing to both hop-heads and malt lovers alike. Expect a medium-bodied ale with a dry finish that will lend itself to easy drinking any time of year.
